After 2009's critically acclaimed, self-titled debut album (Mess+Noise Critic's and Reader's Top 50 Records of 2009) much changed for Melbourne-based pop ensemble Psuche.
Since their successful album launch the band's members have embarked on a slew of side projects, from solo albums to international exploration and beyond. Retaining the musical elements that made 2009's debut such a compelling listen, Psuche have evolved into wonky pop duo Oscar + Martin (Oscar Vicente Slorach Thorn and Martin King), a collaboration producing music full of joy and childlike profundity.
Live they are a blend of analogue keyboards, tape loops, toy instruments and percussion both complex and driving, the songs lush with textured detail that rubs up against a hip hop sensibility. Oscar + Martin are exploring new musical territory but aren't afraid of making you want to dance.
This year Oscar + Martin will make your heart beat faster with hypnotic live shows, exciting collaborations and some beautiful releases permeating your ears.
Their first single Recognise will be released this November, with their debut album due in early 2011.
